With 3 nights staying in the heart of the old town at the historic Gutenbergs hotel, everything is on your doorstep to explore. On your first afternoon or morning, our guide Inga will show you the main sights of the city on a private 3 hour walking tour. The next day our driver-guide will take you for a day trip out of town, to see rural Latvia and visit the stunning Rundale Palace and Bauska castle.
After your stay in Riga, it's off to the Latvian countryside. Our driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you to the lovely Marciena Manor situated in a delightful region of Latvia. A stay in this manor house is a great way to relax after your city sightseeing, enjoy the spa treatments available, the local countryside, and soak up the charming atmosphere of this country estate.
On your drive from Riga to the manor house, you will visit Ligatne and Sigulda - one is a former Soviet bunker and one a delightful town in Latvia's Little Switzerland. And on your return to Riga, if time permits with your flight home, you will visit the open-air ethnographic museum.

Itinerary for our Riga & Manor House
DAY 1 - Riga
Arrival Transfer In Riga
You will be met in the arrivals hall by your driver who will be holding a board with your name written on it for your private transfer from Riga airport to your hotel in Riga
The Gutenbergs is in a superb location on a quiet and cobbled street in the heart of the Old Town, making it the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful city. There are two restaurants, one has a wonderful roof terrace (open April - November) offering lovely views of old town Riga, particularly lovely on warm summer nights, where you catch the spectacular Latvian sunset.
Having been converted from an old printworks the rooms have a rustic feel and are charming and a good size. This historic hotel is a great favourite with our clients, many of whom return. We know the manager well and on many occasions our guests are upgraded. Highly recommended.
DAY 2 - Riga

DAY 3 - Riga
Excursion To Rundale And Bauska (Castle Included)
This lovely day trip is an opportunity to see some of the most beautiful examples of Baroque architecture in Latvia.
At 10.00 meet your driver and guide in the reception area of your hotel. Arrive at the Bauska Castle Museum around 11am. Visit the fortress ruins and the observation tower, the Jauna Pils (The New Castle) as it is today and an exhibition about the Castle’s history, archaeology and renovation. Then it is on to Rundale Palace. Rundale Palace is one of the most outstanding monuments of Baroque and Rococo art in Latvia. It was built between 1736 and 1740 as a summer residence for Duke Ernst Johann of Courland. The Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli famous for designing The Winter Palace and the Hermitage in St Petersburg, designed Rundale, his style of work, known as Elizabethan Baroque style, is very beautiful and Rundale Palace is well worth a visit . In 1972 the Rundale Palace Museum was founded and restoration of the palace began. Restoration is not yet completed and is still going on. 15.00 return to Riga arriving at your hotel around 16.00.
DAY 4 - Riga - Madona region, Sauleskalns
Riga - Marciena Manor Via Ligatne / Sigulda Private Transfer
Private transfer from Riga to Marciena Manor with stops along the way via Ligatne & Sigulda. We will need to discuss with you where you would prefer to stop enroute to fit in with time available. Any tickets required will need to be bought locally.

The quaint and charming 4* Marciena Manor Spa is a lovely place to spend a few days, relaxing and unwinding, located in the countryside in eastern Latvia. The resort is built in a quiet country estate, where the historic building has been renovated and turned into tasteful guest rooms.

The Manor is over a 100 years old, each room has its own character and there are many lovely antiques in the hotel adding to the historic and charming atmosphere. DAY 6 - Madona region, Sauleskalns - Riga
