Itinerary for Chisinau Short Break Private Tour

Chisinau Short Break Private Tour

Moldova is the least visited by tourists of all European countries. We do not understand why, but we do know this quieter off-the-beaten track status makes it all the more fascinating and enjoyable for those who do visit! This is a private tour, so all your transfers, walking tours and day trips are all just for you with your very own personal guide. You will enjoy the green parks of Chisinau, the magnificent underground Milesti Mici wine cellars (the largest undergound wine cellars in the world), and a day trip into Transnistria (a breakaway Soviet republic that doesn't officially exist).

Visiting stunning monasteries and caves along the way, you’ll be escorted by our expert Moldovan guide, who in spite of his admiration of heavy rock has much going for him. Our approach towards day trips and excursions is that you set the pace to suit you, and of course the itinerary can be altered if you prefer.

Day 1 - CHISINAU

Our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and drive you to your hotel (they will be holding a sign with your name on it).

Day 2 - CHISINAU

Private City Tour Of Chisinau By Car (3 Hours)
A private day trip with our friendly driver-guide. Valery will meet you at your hotel and take you for a 3 hour tour of Chisinau partly walking and partly by car. This is a great way to get acquainted with Chisinau and learn about local life in Moldova.

Day 3 - WINE CELLARS & MONASTERIES

Milesti Mici & Monastery Capriana Day Trip (4/5 Hours)
Our driver-guide will take you for a day trip by private car to visit the world famous Milesti Mici wine cellars. Milesti Mici wine cellars are the biggest in the world, it is an awesome place to visit especially if you like your wine. After your tour of the wine cellars, you will travel on to visit the Capriana Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries in Moldova. A great day trip out of town, seeing rural life and some fantastic sights of Moldova.

DAY 4 - TIRASPOL / TRANSNISTRIA

Tiraspol & Monastery Noul Neamt (7/8 Hours)

A day trip with our driver-guide to a country that does not officially exist - Transnistria. Visit Tiraspol and the Noul Neamt monastery on this unique day trip. Tiraspol is the second largest city in Moldova, but also unofficially the capital of the unrecognised republic of Transnistria. You will cross the border into Transnistria and tour Tiraspol. Then it is on to visit the Noul Neamt monastery an Orthodox ancient monastery with one of the tallest bell towers in Eastern Europe, 60m). Duration approximately 7/8 hours.

Day 5 - CHISINAU

Day at leisure in Chisinau, time to visit to visit some museums or do some souvenir shopping.

Day 6 - END OF TOUR

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport. Or you could extend your tour to Ukraine or Romania...

TRANSNISTRA WAS THE MOST UNUSUAL

I had a really good time. My tour of Chisinau was led by Christina and Vladimir and they did a great job. The wineries and the monasteries fun. And, of course, Transnistra was the most unusual. I have been to both the Soviet Union and Russia, and this was really a step back in time.

THANKS AGAIN, AND KEEP UP THIS HIGH STANDARD!

We have returned from our trip to Moldova and Transnistria and just wanted to tell you that it was excellent and far exceeded even our high expectations. The tour guide (Elena) and the driverwere exceptionally good throughout. We also much appreciated the time we spent with local peasant families, sharing meals with them, or learning more about their ancient customs. Thanks again, and keep up this high standard!

A MEMORABLE TRIP TO A LARGELY UNKNOWN PART OF THE WORLD

Just wanted to say that the recent Moldova trip was an excellent introduction to a fascinating, beautiful country with a complex history but the most friendly, hospitable people and culture. The traditional food was great and the wines amongst the best I have ever tasted. Transnistria was like going back in time and the Victory Day Parade was surreal but highly entertaining and poignant at the same time, especially the Immortals parade. Thanks again to you and the team for a memorable trip to a largely unknown part of the world.

WE WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND VISITING MOLDOVA

It is indeed now sometime since we arrived back from our holiday in Moldova but we still have very fond memories of the trip. My wife was especially touched by Vladimir's young daughter presenting her with a picture which she had painted as a birthday gift. The hotel in Chisinau was excellent and lived up to its 5 star rating. Chisinau has many interesting places to see and we enjoyed going around the city by the local trams and buses. Other highlights were the visit to the Milesti Mici wine cellars and the fascinating trip to Transnistra. All the arrangements worked well and we would certainly recommend visiting Moldova to people who would like to gosomewhere different and interesting and to use Baltic Holidays to do so.
