FROM THE BALTIC TO THE BLACK SEA
Gdansk & Kaliningrad Private Tour
The tale of two cities; Gdansk & Kaliningrad. Both historic Hanseatic ports in former Prussia; one beautifully preserved with rows of merchant houses and cobbled streets, the other bombed beyond recognition in WWII and reconstructed by the Soviets in Brutalist concrete. Gdansk played an important role in the Solidarnosc movement leading to Polish independence from the Soviet Union, and today is an important port on the Baltic sea. Kaliningrad rose from the ashes of it's former glory as Koenigsberg with equal startegic importance as a little piece of Russia in the EU and home to the Russian Navy Baltic Fleet. The spirit of Koenigsberg where philosopher Immanual Kant used to take his daily walk lives on underneath the Soviet architecture, and having visited Gdansk you can imagine how beautiful this city was and the impact a new regime had upon it. Today Kaliningrad is being regenerated, so there is a new wave of architecture and culture slowly developing in this unique and quirky place. A trip full of contrasts and history, that can be a short break or extended to more of Poland or into Lithuania.

Day 2 - Gdansk
Gdansk Private Walking Tour (3 Hours)
Our guide will meet you at your hotel and take you for a walking tour of Gdansk – one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic coast, often called the “City of Amber”. Our style is that you chat with the guide about your interests too, so we can tailor the tour to suit you, and if there is anything particular you need to know, eg how to buy tickets for a concert, please ask your guide who will be more than happy to help. And if you need to rest, you can request a coffee break and and chat about life in Gdansk, before you continue your tour.
Day 3 - Gdansk & Malbork Castle Day Trip
Malbork Castle (UNESCO) Private Day Trip (5 Hours)
Our driver will pick you up and drive you to Malbork (approx. 1h drive from Gdansk) to see one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe (UNESCO).
It was built in the 13th – 14th century and is a unique example of Gothic brick architecture. The castle was the seat of the Teutonic Knights – one of the 3 largest (after the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller) religious orders involved in the medieval crusades. From Malbork (Marienburg), the Teutonic Knights led a crusade against the pagans living along the Baltic coast. During the tour we visit the complex at Malbork: the High Castle, the Medium Castle, the Castle of the Grand Masters, a church, numerous chapels, refectories, dormitories and cellars. A walk through the castle takes you to the dark times of the Middle Ages and the Crusades. Once at the Castle you will be met on the spot by a private guide who will show you around.

Day 4 - Gdansk to Kaliningrad
Private transfer from Gdansk to Kaliningrad
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel reception and drive you from Gdansk to Kaliningrad. It is a fascinating drive, comparing and contrasting the two countries and the border crossing is an interesting experience too. Please note this transfer does not include sightseeing, if you would like to make some stops then please contact us for details and a quote.
Day 5 - Kaliningrad
Kaliningrad City Tour with Private Guide
Our guide will meet you at your hotel and take you for a half day tour of Kaliningrad (max 4 hours). This is a private English speaking guide and will include walking and public transport (no private vehicle is included). You will visit the main sights of Kaliningrad, get acquainted with the city history, culture, local life, and it is a good opportunity to ask your guide for any local advice you need eg opera tickets or restaurant information!
Day 6 - Kaliningrad
Kaliningrad Sightseeing to Baltijsk / Svetlogorsk / Yantarny with Private Driver & Guide
Our driver & English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and take you for a full day tour (max 8 hours).
Please discuss with us where you would like to visit, so we can ensure this is possible within the time. Please note that any additional entrance fees would need to be paid locally.
Suggestions for this are Baltijsk closed off military city (home to the Russian Naval Baltic fleet), Svetlogorsk seaside resort (sandy beaches, pine forests, wooden villas) or Yantarny amber mine (perfect if you are into amber, the Baltic gold) - or you can combine some of these for your full day tour.

ALTOGETHER A GREAT SUCCESS.
Dear Jurga and Sally, Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Poland. Everything went well and the hotels were excellent. We were particularly pleased with our two drivers/guides who were knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. Altogether a great success. Thank you for organising it so efficiently.
TAILOR-MADE PRIVATE TOUR OF POLAND, THE GRINKES, SEPTEMBER 2019
WITHOUT DOUBT THE FINEST TOUR COMPANY I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED
They put together an amazing, personalized 1 month tour of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. They drove me to the capitals of each and also to 3 of their incredible beach resorts on the Baltic Sea. There were a lot of moving parts on this tour and it ran like clockwork and any minor hiccup was remedied immediately. I have traveled the world and they are without doubt the finest tour company I have ever encountered and I will be using them soon for a tour of Russia and Ukraine. The staff is terrific and great fun to work with. They go way out of their way to create a flawless experience. Kudos to Jurga, Sarah and Linas for all their amazing work and kindness. If you want to tour the Baltic States, make sure your first call is to Baltic Holidays!!
TAILOR-MADE BALTIC TOUR, MR FRESTON, AUGUST 2018
HATS OFF TO BALTIC HOLIDAYS. YOU GAVE US A TRIP OF A LIFETIME.
Our trip was superb, Philip. As you well know, before the trip I customized it quite a bit. Your team was terrific in accommodating that customization. The result was a unique and spectacular trip. I could go on at great length to tell you how much we enjoyed this trip but, instead, will save time by simply telling you that Denise and I have traveled quite extensively and we both agreed that this was one of our favorite trips ever. That is in large part due to your team's hard work before we landed and once we were in country. The Baltics trip was the first time that we traveled on our own but used a tour company to help plan and then fully support the trip. You have now spoiled - and ruined - us. Hats off to Baltic Holidays. You gave us a trip of a lifetime.
