Exploring Krakow in winter involves sunsets down old town streets, cosy characterful cafes, warm and vibrant restaurants and bars, wonderful food and drink to keep you happy on the inside, and quieter sightseeing at the main attractions. Your handpicked hotel in the old town will be the perfect base for exploring leisurely, and an old town walking tour with our local guide is the perfect welcome to Poland!
Choose your preferred excursions or activities in Krakow; there is haunting Auschwitz or the magnificent Wielizca Salt Mines, but also many other places to visit and experience - talk to us about your interests so we can suggest the right places for you.
And after Krakow, it's into the mountains! Our private driver will take you to Zakopane and now you are ready to start your winter adventure in the Tatra region. A warm welcome awaits you and many winter activties too - skiing, sledging, horse & sleigh rides, a spa experience, or local sightseeing... there is a super atmosphere in Zakopane during winter time. Day 1
Arrival to Krakow and Transfer from Krakow airport to your Hotel.
Welcome to Poland! Our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and drive you to your hotel (they will be holding a sign with your name on it). We always love this very first glimpse of a new country on the drive from the airport to the hotel!
Private walking tour of Krakow (2.5 hours)
Our guide will meet you at your hotel reception. Strolling through the Old Town of Krakow we introduce you to our beautiful city of Krakow. Our local guide will get you acquainted with the old town, show you the main sights and welcome you with some stories about Krakow and what it is like living here. There will plenty of places we can pop into to warm up along the way. We are very happy for you to tell us your interests and what you would like to discover and experience during your stay in Krakow, then we can recommend THE places you should visit during your stay. We look forward to sharing our city with you.
Day 2
Sightseeing excursion or activity around Krakow
You can choose to stay in Krakow and explore the old town and the neighbouring district of Kazimierz; time can be easily spent wandering the streets or riding the tram, admiring the architecture and enjoying the cafe, bar & restaurant scene that is the pulse of Krakow's social scene. There are many museums, galleries and shops to while away your time, some of the smaller attractions like the Ethnographic Museum are delightfully quiet and quirky. Ask us for advice on your winter Krakow sightseeing.
Should you wish to take a day trip out of town, there are the main sights of Auschwitz-Birkenau the former concentration camp which is a harrowing but essential part of Poland's history, or the Wielizcka Salt Mine which is quite simply awesome. And of course many other lesser known sights are also open during winter, ask us for suggestions.
Day 3
Krakow to Zakopane
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Zakopane. Arrival to Zakopane and check in to your hotel in this charming mountain village. We will recommend the best hotel for you, and we have our favourites with spa facilities so you can warm up and wind down after enjoying the activities of Zakopane!
If you are staying here over Christmas, we will make sure you are staying at the best hotel for celebrating the festivities! In Poland, the main celebration for Christmas is on Christmas Eve - we will include a gala dinner at your hotel so you can experience an authentic Polish Christmas celebration. We can also arrange half-board should you prefer, or leave it flexible so you can taste some local delicacies in the restaurants of Zakopane. We can make reservations for you should you wish.
Days 4, 5 & 6
Winter fun in Zakopane - excursions, activities or rest n relaxation
Spend your time in Zakopane as you wish - for active folks this is the winter capital of Poland, where you can ski, sledge, take horse & sleigh rides and generally make the most of the snowy scenery and active outdoors! The apres-ski is also very good! Others may prefer to hike and enjoy the occasional refreshments at the local bars, cafes and restaurants of Zakopane, The hotels have spa facililties and an excursion to nearby thermal pools can also be arranged. Over Christmas time you will find more family-activities that involve reindeer and Santa too! In Zakopane there is something for everyone, and your day can be as long or short, active or relaxing as you want!
Day 7
Private Transfer from Zakopane to Krakow Airport
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Krakow airport for your flight home. It is the end of your winter holiday in Poland, but you will be taking home many happy memories of your stay with us!
Of course you can choose to stay longer, or travel on to other places in Poland (fly home from Wroclaw perhaps?) - we will tailor your holiday to suit you!

We had a wonderful holiday and we felt so amazingly welcome. As you know, with the impact of the current war in Ukraine, the country is under great financial pressure and tourist industry is suffering. Everywhere we went we were thanked for supporting Poland by not cancelling our travel. We’ve got to say the whole sordid business had little impact on our holiday. We felt very safe, and it was heartwarming to see firsthand how the Polish nation has risen to the challenge and helped the Ukrainians. As we’ve said we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed all that we saw. Things we’d change are few which show how good the itinerary was that you and the team had organised for us. Absolutely loved the extra trips that you had suggested. It’s a given that we’d be happy to recommend your company to anyone (and have done so on numerous occasions already).

THE BEST CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE IN POLAND
We’ve just returned from the best Christmas holiday experience in Poland…. All organised by Sally and team from Baltic Holidays… Where do I begin???? The whole trip was organised by Sally… flights, transport, hotels, food, restaurants, trips and lots lots more. It was Christmas Wonderland. Our rooms were amazing and well equipped, warm and comfortable. The hotel is next to the entrance to the forest/mountains… so lovely snowy walks and sledging.We walked into Zakopane, skied, sledged and so so much more.I can’t explain in words how grateful I am for this amazing holiday that Sally organised for Fred, Freya,Gaia and myself.I am still quite emotional about how amazing the experience was, especially when the pandemic seemed to be against us travelling.Regarding covid… we felt safe and at no risk… and we have returned home to receive negative PCR tests.All I can say is definitely give Baltic Holidays a call and book a holiday asap…. You deserve it!!!!

WITHOUT DOUBT THE FINEST TOUR COMPANY I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED
They put together an amazing, personalized 1 month tour of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. They drove me to the capitals of each and also to 3 of their incredible beach resorts on the Baltic Sea. There were a lot of moving parts on this tour and it ran like clockwork and any minor hiccup was remedied immediately. I have traveled the world and they are without doubt the finest tour company I have ever encountered and I will be using them soon for a tour of Russia and Ukraine.
