Day 1 - Arrival in Chisinau

(4th October 2024)

Upon arrival at Chisinau airport you will meet your local guide and driver. After check-in at your 4 star hotel in the centre of Chisinau you have free time to start your exploring of Chisinau. This evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner in a local wine bar specialising in quality Moldovan wines by small producers.

Day 2 - Explore Chisinau & the Wine Festival

(5th October 2023)

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel and take you for a guided walking tour of Chisinau. This will include the main sights of Chisinau and hearing the stories about life in Moldova from your local guide. From lunchtime onwards, the rest of the day is free to enjoy the wine festival - there is plenty to see and do! Sample different local wines, try a traditional barbeque, meet locals and enjoy an unforgettable Moldovan experience with folk music and dance events.

Day 3 - Cave Monastery & a Local Lunch

(6th October 2023)

After breakfast, we'll visit one of the most popular sights in Moldova - Orheiul Vechi cave monastery complex located 55km from Chisinau. Built into the cliffs by monks over the centuries and preserved in a functional state, this is an iconic place to visit. Lunch will be at a family-run guesthouse for a local experience; this is a real insight into life in Moldova. After lunch, we return to Chisinau and continue with the wine festival. Accommodation is the same 4* hotel as the previous nights.

Day 4 - Moldovan Wineries & Vineyards

(7th October 2023)

Today we shall discover Castle Mimi, which is currently listed among the most beautiful architectural masterpieces in the world of wine. The story of the castle begins in 1893 when Constantin Mimi, the last governor of Bessarabia, planted the first grape vines on the place that would become a legend over the years. The area of Codru, where the winery is placed, has a unique microclimate and a very good terroire, as a result having intense and aromatic wines. Today the Castle Mimi winery produces classical wines like: Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, but also indigenous varieties as Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Neagra and Rara Neagra. The biggest attraction of the winery is off course the chateau and its cellars, that are built in a very old technique, so that all year round the temperature is the same: 14 degrees C. We will enjoy an excursion and wine tasting in the castle.

Next, we shall visit (no tasting included) the world-famous Moldovan Cellars - Milestii Mici, which is a real underground wine city with wide streets, warehouses, tasting rooms, and is included in the Guinness Book of Records for having the biggest wine collection in the world. The total length of its galleries is 200 km.

Arrival in Chisinau. Farewell dinner. Same accommodation in Chisinau.

Day 5 - End of the tour

(8th October 2023)

Check-out from the hotel and our guide and driver will take you to the airport for your flight home. If time allows, you can choose to visit either the Ethnography Museum or the Military Museum before heading to the airport. End of the tour!
