Day 1 - Helsinki

Transfer From Helsinki Airport To Your Hotel

Our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and drive you to your hotel. Welcome to Helsinki! Get checked in at your hotel, and enjoy a free evening to stroll around Helsinki. If you would like to book a restaurant for this first night, we can do that for you.

Day 2 - Helsinki

Helsinki Private Walking Tour (2 Hours)

Our local Helsinki guide will meet you at your hotel and take you for a 2-hour walking tour of Helsinki - the perfect way to get your bearings. The guide will go at your pace and if there is anything, in particular, you would like to see or do - please say! The rest of the day is free to explore Helsinki at leisure.

Day 3 - Helsinki & ferry to Stockholm

Exploring Helsinki

There are many ways to fill a free day in Helsinki. Take a guided tour with a guide out of town to Porvoo perhaps, or take a train to independently explore another city or town. If you would like to experience some Finnish nature, we can take you for a hike, kayak, or picnic in the wilderness nearby. You can also choose to take a ferry to Suomenlinna fortress, and maybe island-hop by ferry to enjoy a meal on an island or a local sauna experience. Talk to us about what you would like to see and do.

Helsinki to Stockholm by overnight ferry

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the ferry port. Your ferry tickets for the voyage from Helsinki to Stockholm will have been pre-booked. You can choose the standard of cabin and meals to be included in your ferry journey. The overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm departs early evening and arrives the next day at mid-morning.

Day 4 - Stockholm

Morning arrival to Stockholm. Our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall of the ferry terminal and drive you to your hotel (they will be holding a sign with your name on it). Welcome to Stockholm! Head to your hotel and get checked in and unpacked.

Stockholm Old Town Private Walking Tour

This walking tour is to get your bearings around the city. Our local guide will pick you up from your hotel reception and take you on a 3-hour guided tour by foot around the City of Stockholm. You'll visit the Old Town of Stockholm (Gamla Stan); located on a small island with narrow stone streets and old buildings, this is a charming area to walk about. Sights of interest are Storkyrkan, the Royal Palace, the Royal Opera, Stadshuset, Kungsträdgården, and much more. Entrances are not included.

Day 5 - Stockholm

Make the most of your day in Stockholm, before your departure by ferry this evening. We highly recommend you explore the Stockholm archipelago, take a ferry out to an island to see island life and, enjoy a meal alongside the waterfront. If you enjoy crafts and workshops, perhaps visit Fjaderholmarna for the day. If you would like us to arrange a tour for you, please ask.

Day 6 - Stockholm to Copenhagen by train

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the train station for your onward journey.

Your train tickets will have been pre-purchased. Now you can sit back and relax while the Swedish and Danish countryside swiftly passes by as you travel in comfort. Upon arrival to Copenhagen train station, our driver will be waiting for you to take you to your handpicked hotel in Copenhagen centre.

Day 7 - Copenhagen

Private 2 Hour Walking Tour Of Copenhagen

Our local guide will meet you at your hotel reception and take you for a 2-hour guided walking tour of Copenhagen. This is a great way to see the main sights of Copenhagen, get your bearings in a new city, and learn about local life from your guide - make sure to ask for their current favourite cafes, bars or restaurants for some insider tips!

Day 8 - Copenhagen to Oslo by overnight ferry

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the ferry port. Your tickets will have been pre-purchased for your overnight ferry cruise to Oslo.

Overnight ferry cruise to Oslo

A pleasant overnight cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo. We will discuss the best cabin choice for you, and your preferred meals and entertainment package. Our standard cabin choice is a 2 bed (lower beds) with a sea view, for alternate cabin options please ask us for details - there are some very nice options. The cruise departs from Copenhagen in the afternoon and arrives in Oslo in the morning. You can choose to include an all-you-can-eat breakfast, buffet dinner or set course menu in the restaurant. Facilities onboard include relaxing on the sundeck, taking a dip in the pool or detox in the sauna and pamper yourself with a beauty treatment. Start your evening with a cocktail at the bar and after dinner dance the night away in the disco or nightclub. And there are plenty of fun experiences for children too. Please note there is a stop en-route at Frederikshavn.

Day 9 - Oslo

Oslo Private Walking Tour (2 Hours)

Our local guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you for a 2 hour walking tour through the city centre of Oslo and down to the harbour. The tour includes such highlights as the House of Parliament, a walk on the roof of Oslo Opera House (built in 2008), Akershus Fortress (erected over 700 years ago), Aker Brygge quay, and a visit to the City Hall (free entry), where the Nobel Peace Prize is annually awarded. This is a great way to get acquainted with Oslo and to ask your local guide for any tips or recommendations for your stay.

Day 10 - Oslo

Free time in Oslo. We highly recommended to visit the Bygdoy museums during this day, the Kontiki Museum, Fram Polar Museum and Viking Museum are must-sees and the Folkmuseum is also excellent. Alternatively, take to the water for longer on a fjord sightseeing tour.

Day 11 - Oslo to Bergen

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Oslo train station. Today you will embark on your Norway in a Nutshell® by Fjord Tours experience.

Norway in a Nutshell® by Fjord Tours is a self-guided combined travel experience between Oslo and Bergen. It includes the world famous Flamsbana Railway, ferry cruising through the silent fjords, a bus ride, and the Vossbanen Railway. Your tickets are all booked in advance and should you wish to travel light, we can arrange a luggage transfer service from your hotel in Oslo to that in Bergen. There is much to consider, so do chat with us about this tour.

Option 1 : Norway in a Nutshell® by Fjord Tours in one day

For this option, the luggage transfer service is highly recommended. You can then enjoy a day of travelling in comfort enjoying the awesome views along the way.

Option 2 : Norway in a Nutshell® by Fjord Tours with overnight in Flam or longer time in the fjord lands. Staying overnight opens up the opportunity to enjoy the scenic villages, relax, hike, visit cultural heritage sights, or undertake some awesome activities like kayaking, a fjord sauna, or guided hikes.

Stage 1 : Oslo - Myrdal - Flåm (by train)

Today you will experience one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. Morning departure from Oslo by train to Myrdal which will take about 5 hours. In Myrdal, swap to the famous Flåm Railway that passes through wild and beautiful scenery with waterfalls and steep mountain sides. It descends from a height of 900 metres down to Flåm at a sidearm of the Sognefjord. There is no other adhesion railway in the world running on normal tracks that is so steep over a long distance. Accommodation in Flåm.

* You can choose to stay in Flåm for several nights - it depends on what activities you want to experience during your stay. Choose from relaxing in a spa, a fjord sauna experience, kayaking on the fjord, hiking, or take a tour up to the Stegastein viewpoint.

Stage 2 : Flåm - Gudvangen - Voss - Bergen (by boat, bus & train)

After breakfast at the hotel, take some time to discover Flåm and its surroundings. There are different hiking tours; you can rent bikes or kayaks. In the afternoon, board the ferry taking you over the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. The Nærøyfjord is the narrowest fjord channel in Europe, and has recently been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. From Gudvangen, the journey continues by bus through Nærøyfjord Valley and pass the Stalheimskleiva with its 13 steep hairpin bends. The last part of the excursion will be by train from Voss to Bergen, Norway's second largest city and the world's only city surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords. Day 12 or 13 - Bergen

Our local guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you for a hour walking tour through the city of Bergen. This is a great way to get acquainted with Bergen, learn about life from a local and ask your local guide for any tips or recommendations for your stay.

Day 13 or 14 - End of tour
